This is about as upside down as you can get in the proces of picking your first controller, imho. Thirdly, you are starting with hardware based on a budget. Secondly, let me point out that nobody can help you pick your controller for you as this is a highly personal choice.
#Mixtrack pro on deckadance 2 upgrade
I am 100% positive that the MTP2 will give you a lot of fun and help you on your path to serious DJ-ing and will take longer for you to get to the point of wanting an upgrade than you would have with the Hercules.įirst let me point you in the direction of the free 2015 controller guide for all the information and reviews you could ever need and also in the direction of the truly hundreds of posts about the same subject here on the forums (use the search function for “first controller” for example). And while the RMX2 is at the high end of the Hercules range, it still breaths it’s heritage. It could play a record and produce sound, but it was no Technics SL-1200 or even an Akai or Sony or something. Like in the old days when I got my first recordplayer for xmas.

Hercules on the other hand makes low end consumer gear. The MTP2 especially has been on our ‘favorite starter controller list’ for a long time and with a reason, imho. Usually full-featured, well-built and with broad support from the leading DJ Software companies. Seriously, to acknowledge your decision, Numark makes good DJ gear in the higher consumer/lower prosumer market (they have some semi-pro stuff at the high end, but that’s a different budget). Glad you listened to the voice of reason Paul! Software choices, also in no particular order, are Virtual DJ (as stated already), Mixvibes Cross (also free to try without a controller), Algoriddims djay Pro (for Mac users) and obviously Serato and Traktor (for the latter, be sure to read up on it – if you think Traktor is for you, you might want to look at a (used) S2 controller instead).Īgain, there are more brands out there, but these are the 4-5 main flavors really. Not saying there isn’t anything else out there that could suit your needs, controller (and software) choice is a very personal thing after all, but these 4 will definitely not disappoint and all have good balance between price, build quality and features. Those are, in no particular order, the current controllers that we usually recommend for starters. Otherwise it would be a little like buying a new car that comes with a speedlimiter at 50 mph.
#Mixtrack pro on deckadance 2 full version
All introduction level controllers come with LE/Lite/Intro versions of software, meaning you’ll have to buy the full version to get the most out of your hardware. There really isn’t a hardware/software combo currently for sale that makes sense.
